How this is calculated
Floor area is length times width. We add extra for cuts, usually 10% for straight lays and 15% for diagonal or herringbone patterns.
Divide by the coverage printed on the box and round up. Buy all your boxes from the same lot so the color matches.
How much extra should I add?
10% for a simple rectangular room, 12 to 15% for rooms with lots of corners, closets or a diagonal layout.
Should flooring acclimate?
Most laminate and wood floors should sit in the room for 48 hours before installing. Check your product’s instructions.
