How this is calculated
We work out the total length of joints from your tile size, then multiply by the joint width and tile thickness to get the volume to fill.
Small tiles and wide joints use much more grout than large tiles with thin joints. Mosaics can need several times as much per square foot.
Sanded or unsanded grout?
Use unsanded for joints narrower than 1/8 inch (3 mm) and sanded for wider joints. Sanded grout resists cracking in wide joints.
Should I seal grout?
Cement grout should be sealed once it cures, usually after 48 to 72 hours. Epoxy grout doesn’t need sealing.
